Nancy Boudreau - Biography
Her family moved frequently during her first fourteen years, often driving coast to coast, which gave the young artist an intimate appreciation of the landscapes through which she traveled. Drawing in the evenings, while family was gathered around the television, became a comfortable habit. Her first artistic challenge came at the age of four, when she suffered from a broken arm. Her mother notes that the budding artist continued undeterred, easily switching to using her non-dominant hand.
From 1974 to 1978, she studied painting at the University of Bridgeport with August Madrigal, Robert J. Cuneo, and Paul Vazquez, graduating Summa Cum Laude, Bachelor of Fine Arts.
In the early 1980’s the artist apprenticed at Deena Kolbert’s Manhattan ceramics studio, ClayCrafts, working with Chakaia Booker and Joe Saks. There she created a commissioned piece for Schocken Books, resulting in her introduction to the book publishing industry, which has become home to the artist ever since.
Nancy Boudreau currently publishes her art accompanied with thoughtful prose to a blog entitled “Offerings”.
